The plan is that we provide you with a nice, safe, comfortable deer stand in a strategic spot that has been chosen for this purpose. We clear out a shooting lane where you will be able to have a good clear shot. At some times of the year, we have provided corn piles in the shooting lane to ensure your chances of seeing deer. Deer hunting is in a "high-fence" area where you will be able to see several 14 point deer. This big trophy buck will look great mounted on your wall. More than 75 rifle stands are strategically located throughout the plantation, all built for your comfort and offering prime visibility in areas frequented by game. Bow stands are scouted in advance and situated over natural areas that show fresh scrapes and other sign. Buck Ridge Plantation applies for doe tags each year, which provides excellent hunting opportunities for bow-hunters and individuals hunting for the first time. Throughout the season, you are free to use your weapon of choice: rifle, bow, crossbow, pistol, shotgun or muzzleloader. You may even choose to bring several of your favorite weapons and use them all. Our experienced guides are ready to assist you in any way. They will take you to and from your stand at the appropriate times and, for your convenience, all game can be dressed, processed and packaged for shipment home. We offer morning and afternoon stand hunting on 800 acres of farmland bordered by the Little Salkehatchie River. Our property has been managed since 1998 to produce quality whitetails. All of our deer stands are set up for rifle hunting with shots averaging 100 yards. Also, we do have areas for bowhunters. Bowhunters need to bring your own climbing stands. Your typical morning hunt will start just before daylight and last 3-4 hours. Afternoon hunts will begin 3-4 hours before dark. A guide will take and pick you up from your stand. We do offer two-way radios for communication. Then you will be taken to your stand before daybreak. You will be hunting from elevated tower stands, ladder stands, ground blinds or climbing stands. Out comfortable stands are fully camouflaged with rifle rests and most accommodate two hunters. All will be corned at least once a week; there will be a few exceptions at the first of the season for stands that have food plots, such as peas planted at them, when corn isn't necessary. You will be picked up at a designated time, have game taken care of and then lunch. Afternoon hunts will begin 4 to 5 hours before sunset and you will be picked up just after dark.
