Backwoods Outfitters is dedicated to offering their hunters the highest quality Illinois whitetail deer hunting possible. Many Illinois outfitters care more about booking as many hunts as possible. Owners, Matt McCullough and Butch Creetch, made it very clear that they want to treat every hunter with respect and give them the best chance at harvesting a trophy whitetail. Illinois has the best whitetail deer hunting available and a few guides and outfitters have damaged that reputation with their business practices. Backwoods Outfitters is different. They know if they continue to provide low pressure, high quality deer hunts, those satisfied hunters will return year after year. The Deer Hunting:  If you are looking for a quality Illinois deer hunt, with low hunting pressure and trophy quality bucks, at a fair price, you should at least give Backwoods Outfitters a look or have a chat with them. They shot some very nice whitetails this past season and just acquired even more trophy Illinois deer hunting properties. They are not the cheapest and they are not the most expensive. Matt and Butch just want to give you a great hunt.

Illinois Bowhunting:  Backwoods Outfitters specializes in semi-guided archery deer hunts. By limiting the number of hunters in camp at any time and the total number of hunters per season, they can offer a quality deer hunt with trophy potential to each guest. The guides at Backwoods Outfitters are bowhunters themselves, so they share your passion for a good deer hunt.

Firearm Hunts:  Backwoods Outfitters also offers shotgun and muzzleloader deer hunts in Illinois. Spots are limited, so it is best to book your trip early.

Location:  You will hunt in trophy rich Schuyler and Edgar counties. Schuyler County is in west central Illinois, near Pike and Adams counties. Edgar County is located in east central Illinois. The whitetail in these counties are numerous and the trophy bucks dominate.

Meals & Lodging:   All meals and lodging are included with the cost of the hunt. A clean and comfortable country style house is used as the hunting lodge.

Rates:  Please refer to Backwoods Outfitter's website for the most current Illinois deer hunting rates. Most trips are $2850, but there are a few variations for early season hunts and unguided hunts (self-guided).

Other/Combination Hunts:  They do offer a combination bow/gun deer hunt, which is $5000 for 3 days of bowhunting and 3 days of gun hunting. In the Spring, Backwoods Outfitters also offers self-guided Illinois turkey hunting. A turkey guide is available for an additional fee.
